I’ve been around technology all my life. My father adored computers and we always had one during my childhood. He taught me how to use it enough to make me want to teach myself even more. He was never one for gadgets. There never were many gadgets back when I was a kid. We had computers, televisions, and some video cameras. I couldn’t help but want to get my hands on every piece of technology I came across. It didn’t matter if it was something my parents bought or something I came across. I had to get my hands on it and see what it was all about.
Somewhere along the way I lost track of this childhood curiosity. I became complacent and comfortable with the same phone and computer for years. My awakening came when I started reading about technology and watching videos of other people talking about new devices. I began to see that my ignorance was unacceptable and I needed open my mind to what was going on out there. I had to look at how other people were covering technology and figure out a way to do it better. I needed to step my game up and stop being such an old man.
I am not saying that I’m the be all and end all of technology coverage. I am a newbie in this field trying to learn the tricks of the trade like everyone else. My goal is to come up with universally understandable. I want people who have never used a device before to be able to understand it straight out of the box. I don’t want to cover the things everyone else is covering. I want to dig beneath the surface and bring out devices you might have never heard of, but are definitely worthy of your consideration.
I refuse to believe that there’s not enough room for everyone in the realm of covering technology. Creators, whether they have millions of followers or are barely starting out, need to collaborate with each other. I see too many creators who act as if they’re islands, refusing to reach out to anyone or bring additional voices into the conversation. I am not that kind of creator. That being said, any arrangement with another creator will have to ensure that we’re on a level playing field. I will always prefer to work with another creator as their equal rather than their inferior.
I have debated syncing up with another technology outfit for the purpose of exposure. I decided that such a decision would not be in my best interests. Instead, I want to remain independent for a variety of reasons. Namely, I am able to say whatever I want without being beholden to an editorial staff or board of directors. I’m willing to consider writing for these outfits as a guest as long as I have complete editorial control. The integrity of my voice is paramount to me. I want people to know that they’re reading something written by me if they see my name attached to it.
I will add to this page more as time goes on. It’s sole purpose is to be a landing page for my technology section and directory of content I’ve written so far. Knowing how fickle I am, I will likely scrap this section and rewrite it on multiple occasions. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy what I’ve written so far and what’s coming down the pipeline in the future.
